Factory quality inspection and certification

Factory quality inspection and certification is an activity to check and determine the quality of factories, building components, or construction works in accordance with the requirements of design, regulations, and technical standards through experiments, combined with recording and visually assessing the current state.

1. Why and when is it necessary to inspect and certify the quality of a factory?

- For newly constructed buildings, according to Article 17, Clause 3 of Circular No. 10/2021/TT-BXD dated August 25, 2021:

+ The first safety assessment inspection of the building shall be carried out after 10 years from the time the building is put into operation and use in accordance with legal regulations.

+ For the next safety assessment inspection, the safety assessment of the building shall be carried out at a frequency of once every 5 years.

- For buildings that have been put into use, according to Clause 5.5.3 of TCVN 9343:2012 Concrete structures and reinforced concrete structures - guidelines for maintenance work, the inspection cycle for structures is specified as follows:

+ Special important buildings from 2 to 3 years;

+ Buildings that regularly have a large number of people working or passing through from 3 to 5 years;

+ Other industrial and civil buildings from 5 to 10 years;

+ Buildings exposed to marine climate corrosion and chemical corrosion from 1 to 2 years

- The BSCI standard is a social responsibility assessment standard for businesses. It is increasingly important for businesses in Vietnam and abroad to obtain BSCI certification. This helps businesses to meet the requirements of infrastructure, safety, occupational health and safety, and environmental protection, increase labor productivity, and increase their competitiveness in the international market.

- One of the requirements of BSCI certification is to conduct quality inspection and certification of factories. This helps to ensure that factories meet the required standards for quality, safety, and usability.

2. Factory quality inspection cycle

- Factory quality inspection and certification is performed on a regular basis to identify and address any damage or deterioration that may occur during use. This helps to ensure that the structure remains safe and functional for its intended lifespan

3. The following activities are performed by ICCI during the factory quality inspection and certification process

- Visual inspection and documentation of the existing condition of the building: Identify the architectural features, load-bearing structures, and any existing damage or defects

- Measurement of the geometric dimensions of load-bearing components

- Testing of concrete strength using core sampling and laboratory testing, in combination with non-destructive testing.

- Testing of reinforcement in concrete structures using ultrasonic testing, in combination with drilling and chipping (if necessary).

 

- Inspection of bolt connections, including the number, diameter, and tightening torque of bolts.

- Measurement of deflection of beam, floor, and truss members.

- Measurement of verticality of columns, walls, and the overall building

- Restoration of the site if drilling and chipping are performed on site.

- Establish a calculation model based on the design drawings, specifications, and actual conditions of the building.

- Calculate and check the load-bearing capacity and deformation of beams and floors to ensure that they meet the requirements of the design and regulations.

- Prepare a report on the inspection and certification of the safety of the building's load-bearing capacity.

- Issue a certificate of quality of the building if the load-bearing components meet the requirements of the design and regulations.

Factory quality inspection and certification's process
